PHILOSOPHY

Every project starts with a question.

SELECTED WORK

Things I’ve built, tested,
broken, and rebuilt.

A collection of things I’ve built, tested, broken, rebuilt, and occasionally managed to finish.

PROJECT 01ASTRONOMY / SOFTWARE / RESEARCH

Skyora

An astronomy-focused digital platform exploring image processing, sky observation, intelligent planning, satellite tracking, and tools designed to make astronomical observation more accessible.

PROJECT 02GAME / WEB / EXPERIMENT

ClayWay Up

A cozy-chaotic 2.5D browser platformer created in just 6 hours for the EXE Extended 2026 Game Jam.

Built entirely with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — without a game engine, WebGL, or AI tools.

PROJECT 05WEB / CSS / TOOLINGDISCONTINUED

SJML

A CSS toolkit built around the idea of making expressive interfaces faster to create using custom HTML elements instead of class-heavy styling.

Older releases remain available as an archive, but the project is no longer maintained.

Started in 2024.

SJ Trainer

A free, ad-free chess training tool designed around calculation. Instead of solving preset puzzles, players calculate positions taken from real games.

The project is currently unavailable due to hosting costs and insufficient usage to sustain the server.

EXP. ARCHIVE / UNLISTED

That’s only the visible part.

From tiny JavaScript experiments to unfinished ideas, prototypes, tools, games, and research projects — the studio has a much longer archive.

THE LAB

Not everything needs to become a product.

Web experiments, physics sketches, astronomy tools, generative art, prototypes, and algorithms — the smaller half of the archive.

ABOUT

One person. A lot of tabs.

Hiruja Edurapola is the founder and sole creator behind Hiruja Studios.

What started in 2020 as a collection of small web games and experiments gradually became an umbrella for software, games, research-oriented projects, creative technology, and things that were simply too interesting not to build.

Research + creative technology

Skyora, ClayWay Up, and new experiments.

No departments.
No committee meetings.
Just one person asking, “What if?”

PRINCIPLES

01

Curiosity

Questions are often more valuable than answers.

02

Experimentation

Build it. Break it. Understand why.

03

Accessibility

Technology becomes more meaningful when more people can explore it.

04

Creativity

Code is a tool for expression, not just computation.

RECOGNITION

Actual records, not statistics.

Have an interesting idea?

I’m always interested in strange questions, ambitious experiments, and things that probably shouldn’t work — until they do.
